Downtown Wheaton is also home to one of the narrowest stores in the Chicago area...The Popcorn Shop was formerly an alley between two buildings and features the exposed brick walls of its neighbors. The store has been around since the 1920s and currently sells candy for as little as 2 cents a piece and of course, fresh popcorn!

The Wheaton Park District oversees 800 acres of land and 52 parks, including the family friendly Cosley Zoo, the beautiful Arrowhead Golf Club, and the Danada Forest Preserve & Equestrian Center. The town is also home to the stunning Cantigny Park, the former estate of Chicago Tribune owner Robert R. McCormick. The 500-acre park contains a championship 18-hole public golf course, formal gardens, picnic areas, camping grounds and two history museums, and is open to visitors year-round.

As one of the area's premiere suburbs, Wheaton, in addition to its extensive network of parks and forest preserves, also serves as a host community for the Illinois Prairie Path. Today more than 800,000 yearly visitors enjoy the scenic 61miles of biking, hiking, jogging, equestrian and nature trails that comprise the Illinois Prairie Path.

Wheaton's School District 200 constantly ranks among the highest in the state, offering students a quality education and a wealth of opportunities. There are fourteen public elementary schools, four middle schools and two high schools. The City is also home to a number of private elementary schools and St. Francis High School. Wheaton College is an academically rigorous, four-year Christian liberal arts college located close to downtown.
